Considering that it’s free, everything was well groomed and maintained. Again, it’s free, so be respectful. Stay on the trail and leave the flowers where they are for everyone to enjoy.

This is a must-do hike on Kauai. Walk a couple of level miles through a mahogany plantation (80,000 trees!) to a beautiful hidden grotto deceptively called the "stone dam" (there is a small dam at one end of the garden). That this privately-maintained garden is open to the public is amazing! Such a gift. Don't miss it!

Halfway through the 4.3 mile loop, you’ll come to an oasis of wooden bridges, rock retaining walls, a stream and waterfalls. I’d suggest bringing a small tarp, rain jacket, or some other waterproof item to sit on so you can enjoy sitting on the grass and contemplating how lucky you are to be in Hawaii.

This trail is easily accessible for those that would find the others too difficult. So, it is about 5 miles, so ensure you wear sneakers, have a hat and have a water bottle with you. Wifey said there should be shade since you are in the trees.... ha!.... there are some bare areas near the dam and I wore no hat, no sneakers. My bad. But totally awesome with the mahogany trees. The dam at the end was a wondrous surprise. A quiet place to relax and just take pictures.

Beautiful walk through a mahogany forest. Some small hills, mostly flat. Bring water.

Good hike. Trail was a little muddy. The stone dam was beautiful.

The trail is muddy when it’s been rainy, but it’s not a big deal if you come prepared with shoes you’re not worried about and a bag for when you return to your car.

A great little hike for a breezy day when you can’t be on the beach. The hike is a mostly mellow stroll through an intentional forest of mahogany.

Also, there is a way to get there without using the trail altogether. I will re-edit this review to show how to get there to see the dam without the long walk. *** take the Kuawa Road to the common area and then just take a 1/4 mile walk to the Stone Dam.
